George Smith

George Smith is a graduate of Villanova University and has a Masters in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell. He retired from a senior management position with the New York State Department of Civil Service in 1991. He started as an ESCOT consultant in 1992 and served on the Board of Directors from 1993 until 2016. He was Board Chair for over three years concluding his service in that capacity in 2004. He last served on the Board as Vice President and Chair of the Governance Committee. He is a trained mediator and volunteers with Mediation Matters to provide services to Albany County Family Court in custody and visitation cases. As a volunteer with ESCOT, George specialized in working with non-profit Boards to help members to work more effectively together and to develop strategic plans.
